On August 20, the 10th Wisconsin provided artillery support for the U.S. cavalry charge. Their battery was positioned on the north side of McDonough Road, a short distance northwest of the Nash Farm property on the same hill at Hunters Creek sub-division.  Several cannon friction primers were excavated near this location and the face of the ridge was peppered by shells as indicated by shell fragmentations that were discovered nearly 30 years ago .
